Health & Safety

Target 365

Cyan's operations are underpinned by our Target 365 culture, an in-house developed strategy to deliver ‘a Perfect Day, Every Day’ and is our shared belief that an incident-free workplace is possible.

Cyan's Target 365 strategy focuses on everyone coming to work each day with the aim of having a “Perfect Day”, that is, a day free of recordable injuries and illnesses or material incidents.

The strategy has created a genuine safety culture and consciousness at Cyan – a culture that drives our world class safety performance.

Fundamental to the Target 365 programme:

  • Developed in-house – ensuring employee engagement at all levels within the organisation.

  • Transparent information – all information relating to Target 365, incidents and performance is readily available and communicated to all staff across a number of communications channels.

  • Target 365 Quarterly Safety Awards – award winners are recognised across a number of focus areas and variety of activities, including:

    • Outstanding safety performance / behaviour

    • Safety improvement initiative

    • Development of improved operational processes focusing on risk mitigation and safety management

  • Target 365 Leadership Engagement Programme – supported by in-house training and coaching aimed at empowering leaders to conduct active leadership engagements.

Perfect Days are tracked and communicated to all staff including offshore personnel via the Company’s intranet system on a perfect day dashboard.

The health and safety of our employees, contractors, visitors and clients is core to the way we do business.

Critical Controls

Above all else, Cyan's Target 365 Critical Controls keep our employees, contractors, visitors and clients safe.

Cyan's Target 365 Critical Controls focus on the eight highest risk activities across the business and promotes awareness of the key controls required to prevent serious injury or damage to the environment, providing a succinct summary of our operating standards and mandatory requirements for health, safety and environment in everything we do at Cyan.

The Critical Controls were formed using a collaborative approach in consultation with Cyan personnel across our global operating regions and have been subject to periodic review to ensure they remain relevant and aligned with industry best practice. The eight Target 365 Critical Controls are fundamental in eliminating incidents that have the potential to cause serious harm to people and the environment whilst undertaking high-risk activities.

These fundamentals apply equally to all Critical Controls:

  • We are all accountable for our own safety and the safety of others

  • We always follow the rules, standards and procedures

  • We always consider alternatives to eliminate the need for high-risk activities

  • Everyone is appropriately trained, competent and fit for work

  • Tools and equipment are to be used for their designed purpose

  • Everyone has the obligation to stop unsafe work

  • We always manage Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) in all activity planning

With a global presence of over 1,600 employees with different experiences, backgrounds and perspectives, Cyan takes pride in our strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Recognising the importance of equality and inclusion in the workplace, Cyan actively works towards creating an environment where all employees are empowered to thrive and succeed. In order to drive diversity and inclusion objectives at all levels across the Company, Cyan has a well-established Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

The Committee has a pivotal role in promoting and maintaining an inclusive environment across the organisation, through the establishment and monitoring of the Company’s strategic objectives. Cyan also places great importance on ensuring fairness and equality in our remuneration practices, with regular reviews conducted to guarantee that every employee is compensated fairly, appropriately and without bias.

Events

Fostering a greater appreciation and understanding of the diverse cultures and experiences within our business, as well as diversity issues more broadly, remains a key focus for Cyan’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. A cornerstone of this effort is our formal Diversity and Inclusion Events Program.

These events have proven to be instrumental in developing a deeper appreciation and understanding for diversity amongst our employees, and we continue to hold these activities in order to foster an inclusive culture across our business. Events recognised include NAIDOC Week, Lunar New Year, International Women’s Day, Ramadan, Diwali, International Day for Women in Maritime and Reconciliation Week.
